WHaT ArE yOUR beaUTY SECrets??

Hi Guys,

I am forever reading and hearing about different peoples beauty secrets, from supermodels/celebrities must have products and my grandma's weird beauty tricks she used to swear by ( by the way those include gelatin for nails and cooking oil for suntan lotion!) to friends and families little beauty quirks...

So I wanted to take this opportunity to use my blog to ask all of you out there what your personal little beauty tricks and tips are....no matter how simple or extensive they might be I want to know about them!

The age old one which I always hear models and celebs saying about is 'drink lots of water'...
but who really drinks three litres of water a day which is the recommended amount!

But most will agree if they go a few days without drinking much water/too much coffee and fizzy drinks then their skin can look dehydrated and dull...
Plus eating well is a major factor in what your skin looks like...but then I often see larger people who perhaps don't always take the healthy option and their skin looks fabulously clear!

So maybe sometimes it comes down to genes, or stress as many health professionals always say that stress can cause premature ageing and for you to look tired and run down...

My own little tip which some of you may already know about is putting Vaseline onto my eyelashes last thing at night after my eye cream...the Vaseline helps to keep the lashes soft and conditioned, stopping them from being stiff ans brittle which I can find happens wearing thick coats of mascara day in day out...

So please I would love to hear all your various little beauty tips and tricks if you have any...then we can all swap and share them making ourselves more beautiful than ever!!

Mascara Review

After seeing this mascara being used alot by Samatha Chapman, one half of the incredible Pixiwoo empire, I decided to buy it myself and try it out...

pic.twitter.com/2HmyEYRS

The Mascara is by Bourjois and is called 'Volume fast and Perfect'...Cost: £11.99...available from all large drugstores like Boots/Superdrug etc...

But this is no standard ordinary mascara, no no, this one is powered by a battery and it rotates...the wand at the end can be used as normal in a static way or you can switch the wand to rotate in either direction depending on which eye you are applying to...

The rotating wand is designed to act like a comb on the lashes, combing each lash from root to tip making sure each individual lash is covered...it also help to lengthen the lashes as it combs the lashes upwards making them curlier and longer...the combing action of the rotating wand is also great for making sure no clumps develop...

I have tried and tested so many mascara's over the years and this really is very good, the formula is thick and if you are trying to achieve the biggest lashes possible then this mascara is what you need, however if you are lucky enough to have already quite long lashes and you prefer a more natural look then this would be a better mascara for you to use occasionally for events or evenings...

Overall I give the mascara a 8 out of ten which is pretty good considering there are so many out there...the only thing that would make it better is if it had a double end and one end was the white conditioning lengthening formula you find on some mascara's which helps to lengthen and strengthen the lashes before mascara which I find I don;t go without nowadays!

Plus if you purchase this at Boots currently then you will receive a bonus 100 points on your advantage card which is equal to £1 to spend in store on anything you like!

One way to introduce the blue but keep it simple is to just do a small blue flick following the upper lash line, this will look super cute and be really easy to do, done with a pencil which is quite soft and creamy it will look fabulous, below is what I would do:

I have used
MAC 'Out to sea' PowerPoint pencil
which has the perfect texture for creating a soft easy flick.

ALERT!-PRODUCT REVIEW

HELLO!- Did you have a nice bank holiday weekend?

While I was busy enjoying my weekend I managed to make a quick dash into a well known department store to pick up Benefit's brand new liquid foundation which has literally only just come into stores this month....

I had read a number of articles about the product before deciding I would have to buy it and see for myself!
And the foundation does not disappoint let me tell you...I have worn it each day since I bought it this Saturday and it really lives up to the hype...

First off this is what the foundation claims to:
Brighten the skin
make the skin appear more luminous & smooth
build from a light coverage to a medium
give you the highest grade of SPF25.

I would describe the foundation as being a half way between a B.B cream and a tinted moisturizer... although the foundation comes out quite thin and liquid it actually gives a really decent coverage, one that I would say was a more moderate coverage...

When I applied it, it did indeed feel very smoothing and provided just the right amount of coverage...perfect for the warmer months ahead or if you are going on holiday and still want to wear a foundation...it really did make my skin look very smooth and flawless plus gave it a glow which, because I have dry skin, is really important...

The foundation is oil free but I would say that if you had oily blemish prone skin then it may be too moisurising for you and you may feel you don't need the extra moisture it contains...if you have oily skin and still want a moderate coverage foundation for the summer then a great choice is Clinique's Superbalanced foundation which is light and mousse like plus provides a matte finish...

The foundation in my opinion is a winner if you tend to suffer from occasional dry or dull skin, or if you have normal skin then the foundation will give your skin the appearance of being really plumped up, dewy and luminous!

Overall the foundation is REALLY very good and for once is a product I can safely say lives up to what it says it can do...it probably is the best foundation I have ever used...It is perfect for the summer as it has the SPF25 and as you all know sun protection is a MUST these days...

The foundation costs £24.50 so it is middle of the range for price...I am hoping it will last me until the end of the summer as you only need one small pumps worth for daily application...

P.S the coverage is buildable too so if you want a bit more cover into the evening then it is very easy to just apply a second layer to give the foundation more impact...

Flat hair?

I want to address a major problem that alot of women say to me bothers them, and that is the issue of flat straight hair with no body and volume...

The key to volume and body is TEXTURE  the hair has to have some hold and grip, this comes from adding texture to the hair by way of mousse when hair is wet or DRY yes you can add it when it is dry!! Plus a texturising spray like a salt spray...

If you are someone who has normally very soft slippery hair that is straight and tend to hang quite flat then this post if perfect for you, and if you are just a girl with fairly good body in your hair already then this will help if you just want to inject a bit of extra va-va-woom into your hair...

Once hair has texture and hold to it then you can go anywhere with your hair, you can curl and they WILL hold all night, you can backcomb and it WILL NOT slip out after five minutes!

Thicker drier hair types will have no problem with any of this because they already have a texture to the hair that is easier to work with...

When your hair is just washed and damp you must add mousse, mousse is amazing...there are other sprays on the market that say they add volume and create thicker hair and some probably do a fair job but if you just go with good old mousse then you cant go wrong then. Any mousse will do the job it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, the mousse which I use (because I have this type of soft flat hair) is by:

Shockwaves Heat Defense Volumising mousse at £3.35

A can of this will last me at least 3-4 months which is not too bad.

This is to then be dried into the hair, you need to apply liberally for it to be able to do its job....

Once you have done this and dried it into the hair fully, I reccomend sleeping on your hair, even putting it in a high twisted bun to give it extra body and shape set into the hair overnight...

Then if your hair still needs more volume then you can add salt spray into the hair as you wish, apply salt spray all over hair and dry in with a hair drier...this is REALLY GOOD  for adding texture to the hair as the salt drys the hair making it less slippery and easier to mould....

The best salt spray I have ever tried is by Charles Worthington and it smells divine too!

At £6.29 it is not dirt cheap but it really works and lasts such a long time because you do not need to use much...

Charles Worthington Front Row Rough and Tousled Salt Spray

If you then want to curl your hair I can promise it will last alot longer than it has before! of course with a good helping of hairspray...

All these things hairspray/mousse and salt spray with give your hair TEXTURE which it needs in order to be able to hold onto body and volume, as well as more styles, like curls/backcombing etc...

ENJOY CREATING!!
